Via a chronological exhibition itinerary divided into four sections, the Arab World Institute, in collaboration with the MUba Eugène Leroy (fine arts museum) in Tourcoing, invites visitors to discover or rediscover the history of oriental Christianity, from the establishment of the first Christian communities to contemporary developments. Focusing on six territories—Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt—, this vast panorama addresses the religious aspects, the cultural and linguistic exchange, and artistic works. The 330 objects displayed—some of which have been exceptionally loaned by convents and museums in Jerusalem, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan—attest to the incredible vitality of the Christian communities in the Arab world, which are still relatively unknown in the West.
